Challenge by Choice
We provide the personal challenges; the campers have the choice of how they choose to be involved in that challenge.
Campers will be positively encouraged to engage in the personal challenges presented, however no camper will be coerced, negatively pressured or unconstructively persuaded to take part in a challenge if they do not wish to. All campers are able to support other campers in their personal challenge by choice whether they determine to undertake a challenge or not.
Challenges presented in Challenge by Choice are designed to promote: creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, reasoning, self esteem, social ability, self management, organization, and planning.
The Challenge by Choice philosophy creates thought-provoking learning opportunities and personal insight into the question of appropriate risk taking, understanding mutual support, developing self-confidence, comprehension of real leadership, and effective team work.
Challenge by Choice assists in developing a group trust and bond that creates an environment in which there are astonishing endeavors and accomplishments that can exceed camper’s hopes.
The camper, however is still expected to participate in the daily camp activities of their expedition group and needs to follow all safety and group protocols. For safety reasons, they are not allowed to leave the group setting.
