GBBG nesting on our camp float

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

For the first time ever,  a greater black backed gull has chosen our float as a spot to nest. We’ve had to be extra careful not to disturb her too much as we go about our spring clean up activities on the island.

Founded in 1978, the Gloucester Museum School Project Adventure Summer Camp undertakes daily expeditions into the remote and beautiful natural areas of Cape Ann. Our campers are immersed into nature and physically challenged by the daily hikes and high adventure expeditions. GMS strives to foster a child’s innate sense of wonder and connection to the natural world.

Since the summer of 2009, we have successfully offered two new camps in addition to our regular Junior and Adventure Sea programs:

TALL SHIP ADVENTURES and ROCK CLIMBING camp.

The intrinsic adventure and challenge of a GMS expedition teaches children the skills that foster principled inner guidance, character development, teamwork and positive group interaction. We learn by doing and encourage each other to reach our goals. We nurture both social & environmental responsibility through principles of Group Dynamics, the Full Value Contract,  Challenge by Choice and a Leave No Trace philosophy.

GMS Project Adventure Summer Camp complies with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and is licensed by the Gloucester Board of Health.
